Can anyone recommend a good, cheap, merchant account service?

There are a few that come to mind, but there are a number of factors to consider first:
1. Merchant's credit - great, good, bad, non-existent
2. Merchant's industry
3. Percentage of Card Not Present (CNP) transactions/Percentage of business online
4. If online, merchant's gateway and who they work with - FirstData, NOVA, BofA,
Most of these concern risk management and different merchant account providers are better than others at dealing with one or more of these issues.
And don't forget Paypal who you know well - they're doing more and more in
this arena. People can pay without being registered Paypal users, etc...
