I'm developing a new web games site - we're letting users upload Flash games which will be wrapped with our chat client & other community features.

I'm curious about integrating with IM clients. I like the way Guruza does it - what do you guys use?

I'll be at the RoR meetup tonight so you can tell me in person.

Hey Jim. I remember you from the CNET meetup. I really want to talk to you about web games. I would like to hack around and make one for fun.

With respect to your question:

We have a jabber server running behind the scenes. When you sign up, our bot ads you as a buddy. When someone wants to chat with you, our bot sends you a link so you can chat with them on the site.

The chat actually does not use jabber. It is all done with AJAX and Rails. We could let you use your IM client to chat with user directly, we just haven't implemented that yet (see meebo for flash / AJAX chat from IM client to browser).

Hope to see you tonight at the meetup!

Thanks Rich - hope to see you tonight. I just noticed that the meetup is full and I haven't RSVP'ed, so we'll see if I make it in.

In any case we should get together later and talk.
