What technology is utilized on (some/my) Tracphone that enables it to "only" operate if the battery is engaged,even if it is connected to an outlet. I liken it to an automobile, if you want All wheel drive you purchase an Audi if you prefer rear wheel drive your choice might be a BMW. Why is also a simpler question but i'm more interested in the technological side of it.

With out the battery in, there is no connection from the charge port, to the actual phone components. The power travels through the battery, to the phone. In theory, you could simply put wires from the contacts together, but this is highly unreccomended.
